TURKEY'S REPUBLIC DAY

One of my students-her name is MÜYESSER YILDIRIM- wanted to share some information about Republic Day in Turkey.

" In 29th of October 1923, Turkey's Grand National Assembly declared a national holiday to commemorate the management every year and it is celebrated in Turkey and Northern Cyprus every 29th October. In the countries where the Republic Day is celebrated, on October 28th, in the afternoon and on 29th October, full day is public holiday. There are festivities in cities. At schools, stıdents read poems and parade. The parents of the students come to the school and watch them. "

29th OCTOBER REPUBLIC DAY

Republic Day is one of the most important official public holidays and national festivals in Turkey, commemorating the proclamation of the republic on October 29, 1923.
Many people in Turkey celebrate Republic Day on October 29 by attending performances and participating in traditional processions with flags and musical bands. The Turkish Republic's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk proclaimed Republic Day as Turkey's most important holiday.

BACKGROUND OF THE FEAST
After Turkey's victory in the War of Independence, the Turkish parliament proclaimed the new Turkish state as a republic. A new constitution, which the parliament adopted on October 29, 1923, replaced the constitution of the Ottoman Empire.

The leader in the Turkish War of Independence, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, became Turkey's first president on the same day.

The symbols of the 29 October Republic Day in Turkey;

First day of the school Iğdır/Turkey

First day of the school Iğdır/Turkey

On 9th September the school year started. Our school is a village school. Our students go to summer range in summers with their family. They take care of their animals and feed them, such as sheep&cows. Their family are engaged in farming.

They don't go on vacation and they work:/ So the number of students are fewer for now. Because of the economical problem, they have to go. All students come to school until end of the september. But today is the first day:) Surely, the  number of students will increase next days.
The official meeting was in the school yard. We sang our turkish anthem all together.  This is our anthem.
