The night from 29 to 30 November is the eve of St. Andrew's Day, from which the name of the evening was taken. According to old beliefs, that night was always accompanied by a mysterious aura, and fortune-telling, especially those concerning love, had power.

According to the Gospel, St. Andrew was the first of 12 called apostles. He was also the first to preach the Gospel in Byzantium, which is why history attributed him the name of the first Constantinople bishop. He was sentenced to martyrdom for his teachings. He is the patron saint of Slavic nations.

To this day, historians have not established the exact genealogy of Andrew's andrzejekas. It is believed that Andrew's Andrew divination was born in ancient Greece.
